I have a 2017 gtv300ie and it shuts off when I ride it. The ERI ASR light comes on then it shuts off. It does not do this when it's idling. The batteries at 100% and I checked the connection so I'm pretty sure I am good there. When I put it up on the stand and I run it it is fine but the second I try to accelerate it seems to bog out and won't increase the RPMs. When I'm actually writing it, it typically will stall out. Not exactly sure what to do. I'm open to suggestions.

PS I also checked all the fuses and made sure that all the air in the tires were full

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your first post!

First of all: as far as I know, a 2017 GTV has no ASR and therefore no ASR indicator light.

If I am wrong and your vehicle does have ASR, you cannot accelerate when the ASR is switched on and the vehicle is on the main stand. The front wheel would then not turn, implausible values would be measured for the front wheel/rear wheel and the ASR would intervene.

However, this does not explain why your vehicle cuts out while you are driving.

For a better assessment:
Describe the error in more detail. Which indicator light comes on and when (before or after the engine stops)? Do the problems only occur when the engine is cold or warm? Can you restart the vehicle immediately after it has stopped?

Thanks for responding. It is a GTV

When I am riding it on the street the EFI ASR light blinks and then the engine shuts off. It starts again fine but has the same issues. I put it up on the stand yesterday and ran it. When i give it gas, it does not stall out but it wont rev, see video below. It happens cold and warm.

The battery is new and connected firmly.

Below is a video of me testing it out on the stand. It wont stall out like when I am driving it, it also wont rev up on the stand. That could be a safety feature

Please excuse the confusion. In Europe, a 2017 GTV does NOT have ASR, that seems to be different in the US.

As explained, you cannot accelerate vehicles with ASR as long as they are on the main stand!

I'll try to explain it to you again. ASR compares the speed of the two wheels with each other; if the rear wheel turns faster than the front wheel, it intervenes. If you turn the throttle grip on the main stand, the rear wheel turns, but the front wheel does not, so the values are implausible for the ASR. This is not a safety feature, it is simply the way the ASR works.

This has nothing to do with your problem of your Vespa cutting out while riding.

I think since that cluster of lights is used on many variations* that the ASR word is misleading ... ie, the US might not have ASR.

sadly the OP hasn't yet clearly addressed this by checking their user manual

* maybe https://www.piaggio.ricambi-moto-scooter.com/scooter-piaggio/parti_di_ricambio_di_assegnazione/1D000939 which shows it's used on 2009-2016 (presumably their '2017') and since 2009 had no abs or asr ...

Just a stab here, but maybe the voltage regulator?

When was the last time the fuel filter was inspected, replaced?

Have you checked the brake fluid levels?

Faulty ABS sensor?

Was the bike sitting for a long time? When was the last service?

Thanks for all the responses. I replaced all the fuses, and cleaned the battery terminals. Someone also said to fill the tires with air, they were WAY low. The problem seems to have disappeared for now. I hope it is a perm fix.

Thanks for your help, I will let you know if something changes.

Thank you for your feedback! Glad you made it!

ASR does not work correctly if the tire pressure is not correct, or if the difference between the front and rear occurs after the last calibration. It is best to also recalibrate the ASR after filling up. The procedure is described in the operating instructions.
