What could possibly go wrong with my abs unit for my 2020 supertech with only 6k miles on it? New part is at least $1,200. OUCH![/img]

Update found a used one from "across the pond" just installed it and ran new brake fluid through it. all seems ok .
On screen..... ABS Disconnected
Service
I get that because I unplugged the harness and plugged it back in but i'm guessing a service tech has to reset that?

I thought it would be cheaper in Europe, but MSRP for 1C002747 is 1006 euros. Best price I can find for it new is 825 euros. Do they go out a lot? If they do, I'll add it to the site. Considering they've been using this part number for 10 years, I would think it should be cheaper.

The new part appears to be 1C006399, and MSRP is about 800 euros. I don't know if they're interchangeable, but maybe someone does. According to one site, it fits the 2022 GTS (NAFTA), and the previous one is listed as fitting the 2022 GTS (APAC).

Is this the part that was replaced when they did the recall on the GTS ABS brake system?

Here's what they use 1C002747 on, if that helps you find one.

the recall a few years ago was for the brake lines. the abs unit was not supposed to be replaced.

Also, the ABS UNIT requires dealer programming by an authorized Piaggio dealer. Requires P.A.D.S. software.

Or an odb scanner that has piaggio/vespa functionality. ie not a cheap generic scanner. My OBDStar 'Piaggio Group/Multi' edition does support this function. https://www.obdstar.com/Products_280.html (US$399)

No, the software is only for dealer use.

buy and try before you judge.

or even just read the details in their linked document which gives detailed function list for each bike model. (weirdly it's an excel spreadsheet)

it also does other things like 'virginise' the ecu, reset adaptive params, control the abs pumps for bleeding, enable/disable asr, direct control of relays for fan, headlight etc, change the odo on the supertech dashboard, and many more specialised piaggio things.

it's these abilities that distinguishes it from their basic cheaper models.

attached ABS "special function" menu (also has non-special abs functions like read front/rear sensors, model/firmware, etc).

Bonus trivia:

The VIN is stored in the ABS unit.

I have replaced the ecu and using my obdstar i go into the ecu menu and it shows no vin as expected. I then go into the abs menu and it shows the correct vin.
