Hi,
Just had my 50cc primavera serviced about 2 months ago. All good. New tires, plug, tune up, oil, etc. Etc.

Today, riding at full throttle at about 44 mph, it seemed to almost stall… like almost failed… and three relatively huge puffs of smoke blew out the back.

I thought it was going to stall out, and was preparing *(from middle lane!!) to get over as safely as I could… but then it purred right back.

Thought it was an anomaly, but then it did it again. Just a sputter and loss of power (but did not have to restart) and a little puff of smoke.

Any clue? I'm a little concerned and afraid.

Wish I had the faster electrica … I'd just do that. But the 31 mph one I have, while awesome, is a little slow for many roads.

Thanks for any insight.

Patrick

Check the spark plugs wire and make sure it's securely attached to the spark plug. Did you happen to hit a bump in the road when this happened? If your plug wire is loose, this can happen. Especially over bumps.

Does the scoot have a rev limiter? If so, at full open throttle, you may have been bouncing off it more than once and it would seem like a stall.

They come with that to prevent damage to the engine. Look at the RPMs when it happens. My GTS 250 has a rev limit of around 9000 rpm

I think yours has a rev limit of 8,250 rpm

FYI. The gts250 and 300 are both 9500rpm. I double checked in the ECU BIN before writing this.

Thanks, I was going by what I would see on the RPM tach on the scoot which is just bars not a good analog meter so just know that when I am around 9k, I prepare for the rev limiter to kick in and back off a little.

And some fun trivia, just found out the new 310 has the limiter at 8500.
