Hi
Long time lurker, first time poster. Welcome to everybody aboard.

Got myself a Cosa200 that had been sitting appr for 4 years. The scoot is not complete - no ignition lock and no ignition switch. 6 wires coming to the ignition part of the harness where the ignition switch would normally attach.
By bridging the red + wire to all wires but black one I managed to run the board lights, horn, panel lightning.
The neutral light is on and the starter is cranking - all cool but I cannot get the spark in any way.
Upon further dismantling it became clear the machine does not have rectifier/regulator on it - so probably this was the reason it was laid down.

The engine has very good compression and apart from stuck gearbox bowden and carb slide seems to be in a good nick.
The brakes will have to be overhauled for sure.

Can I get the beast to spark without battery and/or regulator somehow?
Pulled the flywheel and all looks pristine in there.
Will get the switch from Piaggio mid next week but you know how it is - not quite patient.

Also - what worries me: if the bike was run with the regulator broken /possibly/ could that have fried the stator - which would explain no spark in any combination of bridging of the ignition switch wires.
Of course it could also not want to run without the rectifier in place.

In any case - how to check the stator with multimeter?

I have checked the stator with multimeter already and it checks allright- same as my proven to be working PK125 stator.
The flywheel is plenty magnetic.
Disconnected all of the other electrickery.

Still no spark.

I am thinking now to check the pick-up alignment with the flywheel although this must have been ok once the beast did the 17kkm on the clock somehow.
Also found info that the blue and black wires should be bridged for spark in these machines - this still needs to be checked if it does have any influence.

Checked three coil packs all being originals. Two confirmed to be working some time ago - no spark.

Will come back with the result.

Also WHOLE of the engine and the wheel arch seem to be covered with oily crud. Like mega thick.
Checked the gearbox oil - clear and not diluted.

Brake pump is leaking

Best regards
