Hello,

I am trying to replace the front brake pads on my Piaggio Vespa 90 from 1965 (V9A1T). The challenge is that the wheel hub is in the way and I cannot figure out how to remove it. I tried to loosen the nut on the other side (see picture with the nut hidden in the grease) but was not able to. Perhaps that is not the way to do it anyway. Does anyone have any advise on how to do this, or can refer to a video, guide, manual, or similar?

Mikael

Left handed thread. Remove nut. then you will need to take a metal drift and strike the axle out with a few tap-taps.

This would be an excellent time to clean up both bearings & grease. Add in a new seal as well.

I cleaned up the grease and got a better look at the nut. Looks very strange though. Does anyone know if there is a special tool to release this nut. I found a tool at SIP but not sure that would fit this kind of nut?

also, remove the speedo drive gear before you try to knock the axle out or you'll probably ruin it.

I think that nut was damaged when someone tried to loosen it with a punch. Unfortunately he tried to remove it the wrong way. Facepalm emoticon

off hand not sure the size, maybe m14? i would pound that socket on there and hit with a pneumatic impact. Then replace the nut with new.
