Looks restamped. I think I see ghosting traces from a previous VIN. Let's see the whole scoot...

I agree with Safis, must have been restamped... Please show the scoot for us to see what it looks like. |

Is it a Douglas? Would that make any difference? Looks much like a legit stamp to me, or somebody was very talented long ago.

Sharp looking bike, but there are some concerns. Do you know its history?
VLB1T would be a Sprint which yours may be, it does look like this one from ScooterHelp here: https://www.scooterhelp.com/scooters/VLB.150sprint.html |

Does it look like the frame is a italian vespa sprint, probably the Veloce because the year is 1976 and the sprint finished in 1974

It seems you are not the first one having a missing T after VLB1
VLB1, but no T... VLB1 - With NO 'T' Chassis Number HELP! OMG! Look what I just scored - 1977 Sprint 150 Could your scoot be imported from Vietnam ? This missing T is not a good sign… |

VLB1T would be a Sprint which yours may be, it does look like this one from ScooterHelp here: https://www.scooterhelp.com/scooters/VLB.150sprint.html Sprint production stopped in 74. So it must be a Sprint Veloce. In 75 Vespa introduced the new horizontal lettering front badge (like the one on PX) and it should have a SPRINT V. badge at the back up to the rear light. Something is weird here. |

The only thing I don't like is the black trim, I think this bike deserves patience for provenance to shine through. I wouldn't ever put sandpaper to that serial number again.
Pictures of interior panels "inside the frame" and underneath the whole bike, put some tape on the numbers, so professionals can get a better scope of its history. Aficionados sometimes leave traces of the past, where bodges don't. And we all know by now that factory records overlap somewhat, quick decisions by managers often leave the prolls with no options |

More clues than in a recent post in this old thread Chassis Number HELP!
nrunol wrote: I Like how this puzzle is put together here. Especialy the first import years from Italy to Indo, dan motors. I inspected 2 Vespa 150 Sprint. 1969 1'st in parts with only, the 150cc Motor with new Piaggio emblem including brake pads and exhaust. A PX motor I would say. All the rest either no emblem or cheap after market parts. Partly restored, packed up in boxes and signs of lost interest to deal with this pile. I call this a Frankenstein Vespa. This one was registered and kept up to date. 1974 2nd complete, started, with maint records in WA and all the Indo paperworks and transfer stamps with Indo dan motor info, spare parts sticker on the hood. Strangely the Model ID and serial number was not on the left site. After checking the other side there it was, and matching the documents. Research showed that serial number location changed officialy in 1970 for the Model Codes VLB 1, VNC 1 and VBC 1 models. Few welds in the back, but fully operational with ugly paint work. (Both the above Vespa frames when comparing to PX made in Germany Augsburg and Primavera from Motovespa in Spain, had quite thin gauge metal I found today) Question 1: Are the Indo dan motor vespa chassies thinner gauge or is this normal for the eara overall? Question 2: The Model Code and S/N sequence found was Letters and numbers VLB10.....Ahead of the serial number. Are the Indo dan motor model numbers without a T and then continue with S/N? The only other licenced importer I found with Model Code and missing T is Douglas Bristol UK. Their Model Code is Letters! VLBI...followed by the S/N |
