i managed to break the tip of the dipstick - gts 300 2024 - crap material - what should I do? also, I can't get the knob back into its threads to the needle. not pressed or damaged, just unscrewed before, first check on the oil after 50 km. hopelessly boring.

This is a common problem, the plastic tip will be removed when you next have an oil change. New ones can be bought off ebay or your local scooter dealer.
If you cant refit the dipstick cap then dont drive the scooter. Ask someone who knows engines to give you a helping hand. If you ride with the dipstick out , oil can be lost and get on your rear tyre. |

OK, you broke off the tip of the dipstick.
Not uncommon on a GTS, it seems, not clear to me why since my BV 300 has exactly the same dipstick and I never had any problem with it at all. It may be the broken off part will show up at your next oil change, but also maybe not. If not then do not worry too much about it. In some cases the part never turns up but did not lead to a problem. There are stronger metal after market dipsticks available. The rest of your post is not clear to me. Can you explain what you mean by: "also, I can't get the knob back into its threads to the needle"? |

Hello and thanks for your answers. what I don't understand is why I can't put the needle back. the threads look good and I just screwed straight up and took out, dried the stick and then when it went back down the stick broke half way which meant I never made contact with the threads on the top. very frustrating. however, in any case, I must have a new knitting needle and then maybe it will fit, with emphasis on maybe. the threads in the block cannot be damaged because the stick is made of plastic.

I think we have a real problem with Google translate here^^^^^. This may mean the dipstick snapped at the top eg cap end hence stopping the threads engaging .
In that case just pull it out. The new Hpe engines are fiddly to unscrew and screw back in. Just jiggle the dipstick around, it sometimes catches on the internal parts of the engine and stops the stick going in. Just keep lifting it out and gently probing it, suddenly the dipstick will drop down to the threads and you can screw it back in clockwise. See 5 mins 20 secs into this video If you continue to struggle post some photos showing the problem. Good luck and welcome to MV

Does anyone in the US sell these oil dip sticks? They're over $40 shipped if ordered overseas. Thanks!

I did the same thing. Ordered a new one from Scooter west and went in fine, I spoke with their mechanics and they advised to just leave the broken tip in there as it would likely not cause any issues, so far so good several hundred miles later. the new dipstick screwed in just fine.
