after a cold very damp ride I placed a pair of leather gloves on the scooter while I walked off to get my coffee at Dino's

Reminds me of the time, I put my wool socks on my sister's wood stove to dry, looking back 40 years. She totally earned that.

Not Sure about your bike, but the pet warmer on my GTS is typically plenty toasty to warm gloves without the risk of damage or melting to the exhaust.

That Oldscooot is pretty dog gone creative. I had always thought anything put on the hot exhaust would get burned. Getting off my scoot, I threw my rain jacket over my seat and it melted on the exhaust.

I did finally have handle bar heated grips on my last scooter. Heaven in cold weather riding.

On cold days Bob, I needed to stop and 'hug' my muffler with my leather gloved hands in order to take the pain out of my cold hands. Cold hands just tried to take all the fun out of a leisure ride in the 20's!!
Then I discovered 7V heated glove liners.

None of my 4 scooters had hand guards - or screens which had them.

I recall a particularly chilly Alameda, CA commute many years ago where I had squeezed some lighter gloves under my riding gloves.

On this same morning I was rolling past a line of stopped cars which were heading in the opposite direction. One motorist was way over the double yellow with at least a 1/3 of their car in my lane.

Younger, stupider, punk me decided it would be a good idea to 'bonk' this persons side mirror... with my double gloved, yet still very cold fist.

You would have thought I had dipped my hand in liquid nitrogen and then punched a wall at 20mph.
