For that bike, a fair price is whatever the value by weight of scrap steel is in Fontana.
That bike was a low-quality Asian import, what's referred to as a "bodge," and the reason it's abandoned like that is because it broke down and no one would touch it to work on it. Have a look at the Bodgespotting thread to learn more than you ever wanted to know. |

I bought a Super engine and a front fork for $120 earlier this year from a frame in about the same shape that was scrapped.

This is definitely not an Asian import/bodge. This is a '74-78 North American market Vespa.
Take off the engine-side cowl and read the stamped VIN on the chassis to the left of the engine. Only the VSE1T came with the glovebox as standard during that period. If you can, post a pic of the VIN. Bonus points for the engine stamp located on the swing-arm.

MosDef a USA market Vespa. Turn signal stalk, tractor light, etc.
I love basket case scoots, for the right price, and I'm actually in SoCal for a few days; Long Beach to be specific…. about 60miles from Fontana. How clapped out is the frame? Love to see some more pics

Diamond in the rough? Little rust but heavy coat of scum moss patina or ? Cowl, leggy & mudguard relatively unabused? Fork looks potentially straight?
We need to know if motor turns over? Is headset included & not broke? W/ a little effort could be worth one or even two grand or more if cleaned up, running and all the right answers above. |

I think the add for that said something like 74 Vespa Super/Rally/PX. No top end, case open to elements for long time. $200
I thought about making the drive to look at it, but my significant other made it clear it would not be in my best interest. Now I see that it's next door in Fontana. |
