Plastic horn cover, square headlight, four speed gear box, Primavera hubs and elestart version - sounds special enough as for me.

Only partway into the second of the three series they grew a 4th gear. Primavera hubs ditto (the first series had 4 bolt 9 inch wheels). Elestart too was an evolution ánd also optional.

Plastic horn covers are pretty much standard starting P series no?!

The ´chrome yellow´ (like yours) I think über btw.

In Tower Heist 2011 the Ferrari was solid gold painted Red.

A very "Special" project

Special project indeed!

Hat off in awe.

To be honest my first Vespa was a small body like that, I painted it Aqua with a matching seat with white. Of course the first thing I did was take off the signals.
I was right around the corner from One Step Beyond in Santa Clara Ca.
I think it was a 90 or 125?? ICR

I never did get the smallie special, its like a bastard lovechild between a small frame and a PK, with that cheap plastic nose.

in the Netherlands a normal small frame is easily 30% more expensive than a special.

On itself I like the concept but loath the plastic.
There is no discussing taste though. Some like the mother, some like the daughter, some both. As to Vespas I for some odd, perverse, reason like the lines of the PK50n; they flow.

Value wise it is weird, hence my post. Over here they are móre expensive. Quite a lot even. In Italy they are (still) affordable but in the light of production numbers should be cheaper really.

I suspect it is a wonderful mix of specific country (how common or not they are) ease of tuneability (great availability of go faster bits) and nostalgia.
As to the country, Spain is a striking example as the 50 Special is on average 50% more expensive than 75 models whereas some are just about the same but quicker and MotoVespa only!

How about PL 170 with METAL nose?

Thanks for sharing that one. No such model in Spain´s MotoVespa line up.

As to the 50 Special nose, for me it is that in the grey guise it stands out mismatching as a being a plastic nose. Some will undoubtedly líke it for standing out. It is such with taste.

As with most Vespas, you tend to love the models that say something about your 'era'. In the UK in the early to mid '80s, a 50 Special was the one to have if you were 16 years old and getting into the scooter scene.
