Hello all. New member here

Starting a rebuild on a 74 Rally 200.

Painted a reinstalled the front hub. All looks good and axle spins freely. When tightening the front hub, the hub locks up. I think the front brake pads are slightly "tall" vertically. It spins okish when not done up with the castle nut, but gets worse when tightened. FYI, the brake pads are new
Any help?

Those bikes were always problematic, I have a 1-800-cash now for recycling that particular model.

Welcome to Canada, what part are you in? That Rally needs fixing, it's worth quite a a lot if complete and body's not a mess. Pics?

I'd consider pulling the new shoes just to verify the hub spins free w/ shoes removed. If so the new shoes are binding somewhere. Put them back on and spin the hub while slowly tightening the nut. You should do it enuff to leave a witness on some of the 'corners' of the shoes which you can file down until they fit. Shouldn't need much, or you probably have some other problem... How about some pics if you get stuck?
