Somebody shoved a screwdriver into the ignition of my BV 350. I don't have the original brown key, but I do have the black key with the RFID chip. I ordered a lockset like the one below. I presume that they come with blank chips (they are en route. If they arrive without chips, I will edit this), so I will have:

1 old black key and chip that's programmed to my bike
1 new black key with a blank chip
1 brown key with a blank chip

What would happen if I put the old RFID chip in the new brown key? Am I able to program the new black key with the old chip in the new brown key? My plan was to simply move the old chip to the new black key, but if the old chip and new brown key can be used to make a backup as well, that would be a nice bonus.

You can't reprogram the keys unless the ECU is re-virginized (there are shops that can do that). The easiest thing is to put your old chip into the new black key and work with that...

1. remove chip from brown if it has one.
2. hold old black next to brown while turning and keep it there for 1-2sec until immo light goes off then put black in pocket.
3. ride to locksmith and copy chip in black key and stick copy in brown.
4. keep old black in safe place at home.

Since I'm pretty sure the bv350 is a miug3 ecu then the black key chip can be copied. Can't with newer miug4 ecu in latest bv such as the 400hpe then you'd have to viginise it or stay doing step 2.

I did 2 for about a year.

Voyage has more tech than the chip in the key but a lot less than the ecu

Thanks for the advice, y'all. To follow up:
1) The new lock set does come with transponders in both keys
2) Moving the old chip to the new key works as far as starting up the bike
3) According to Scooter West's site, my ecu should be the miug3, so I will try to see if a locksmith can make a copy of the chip, as SteelBytes said

I'd love a plutonium powered Vespa.
It may well be the next big thing. Yeah. That's probably why the factory has shut down. Retooling for the plutonium RTG powered Vespa and lining the lunch room with lead.

Hmm. The sort of one horse towns that I stop in for fuel don't even have ev charging. Doubt they'll have plutonium refills anytime soon.

That right there is probably prime uranium dirt you're parked on. Fill the pet holder and you should be good for 700 million years of riding or so. You'll lose a bit on the top end and it'll run a little rough. Still you'll see a tank range of 9.2 light years. I'd advise switching to a Malossi belt.

You could always get a Mr Fusion.

On a similar subject, Voyager, are we talking NASA or Star Trek?

Wouldn't that still need plutonium?

....or 1.21 gigawatts.
The latest "Mr Fusion" generator converted household waste into electricity.

I don't think the Flux capacitor keeps the battery charged as evidenced by the charger in the background

Oh there's a seperate low power system for the seat warmers. You don't want 1.21GW anywhere near your arse.
