I was unable to ride for an extended period of time and my GTS sat covered for over 2 years. I would start it occasionally until the battery died. Got a new battery and it was pretty run down last week when I decided to try again. While I expected some difficulties the results were for the most part quite good.

It was pretty dirty even though covered. After an overnight recharge and battery check I drained the old gas and put in a fresh gallon along with a small amount of seafoam. At the moment of truth it fired right up and sounded like a sewing machine. Amazing!

I gave it a quick wash and checked the fluids. Oil was low so I added 200 ml and it came right to the top of the crosshatched level. Coolant was below the minimum mark so in with a bit of distilled water. Hub oil looked good. Tires were 6 psi each. Yikes!

After topping and washing and inflating and such I went for a ride. A bit wobbly at first but not bad. After a few miles the check engine light came on. I pushed it home from there because I didn't want to damage the engine. It was less than a mile so a bit of good exercise I would say.

Combing the forum and watching more Robot videos (Love that guy) I ordered an adapter for my OBD2 reader. P0130 - oxygen sensor. I still have fumbles putting gas in so perhaps some went in the evap? I reset the code and it hasn't returned.

I haven't hit 6k but plan to do some refreshing based on time. Plan is to install oil sight glass cover, update the fluids and air filter, maybe a few more things, and hope my riding gets back to normal with no more lengthy interruptions. Currently waiting on some parts and then it is on.

Still looks good almost 5 years later.

Hmm ...

coolant doesn't just disappear. Check all hose clamps are tight. And then keep a close eye on the level
