While restoring my X9 500 I wanted to give every component an inspection. The copper terminals for the taillights had enough corrosion on them that I decided to attempt to remove them from the plastic bulb insert that clips each bulb in place. What I didn't see was the tiny punch in the center of each terminal locking it in place and I destroyed the first one I tried to pull..lol.
Once I realized this cable harness is on the list of extinct OEM parts I decided I had to fix it and bought a random copper plumbing clamp which I then took half of the clamp and hammered it out flat. Made a template from the broken terminal and then used hand files and my rotary tool to custom create one.
Extremely happy to report the light works and it fit perfectly into the plastic guides. Crazy. Adding a pic with the busted, the template, and the custom piece which includes a notch I didn't intend on making but left it anyway.
