Guys help me out. I have picked up a GT125 L 2005. It has a malossi cdi. Will not start... Been through entire system including taking out starter motor and cleaning and testing. New Battery No cranking just clicking at solenoid. No indicators though i've tested flasher unit and its good , and a constant engine light. Generic non vespa key. Other than that all electrics appear fine. So it has to be the after market Malossi box right? Help and advice gladly received replace with what?

I know this sounds dumb but are you holding down a brake lever? I had a couple of days of frustration with my GT200 before I figured that out.

Sorry mate Yeah I've checked all and everything I can think of. Scoot didn't have an immobiliser ring at key so I believe this malossi box gives the signal light but isn't immobilising. Didnt notice till I pulled legshield off. Any other ideas before I fork out for original box and new barrell plus keys. I Have an identical one in shed in pieces lol .

"No cranking just clicking" sounds to me like everything's ready to go but the battery doesn't have enough energy to turn the motor over. Even new batteries can be low on charge or faulty. Can you get us some voltage readings, with the battery at rest, and with the starter trying to start the engine?

You might try replacing the starter relay.

I would also take out the spark plug and try to turn the engine with a wrench on the variator, to make sure the engine isn't completely frozen.

Good luck!

Does the headlight dim very low when you get the click from the starter relay? If so, suspect battery. If not, replace the starter relay after checking the wires to the starter/engine - not forgetting the negative to starter connection!

Oh dear.

Best case jammed belt, worst case blown motor.
