are those brand new or fresh off a mp3? eg did you buy them 2nd hand from gts? iirc some mp3 wheels need a little machining ...

I put the same wheels on my 05 GT200 and the rear wheel needed 0.5mm of material removing from the inside of the center basically there's two lips in the center of the rim and looking from the inside of the rim to the outside the first lip needs to be removed that way the rim sits flush up to the hub and it sit just nice on the conical spacer where the whole circumference of the center of the rim is touching the spacer.
I know it's a different bike but hopefully this can give you a few pointers and what I've noticed and figured out with my bike is On looks alone I'm sold So that leaves pro,s and con,s Maybe my speedo is correct My stability is better 70 series tire on 13 rims equals larger diameter than any 12 rim and tire combination 60 series tire on 13 rims equals same diameter as 70 series tires on 12 rims The question now is What are the pros in a larger diameter wheel on a Vespa or any other vehicle ? |

Some want /60 for the low profile look Some want the different handling of the 130&140 Some want /70 for larger tire diam for more speed ... For people who only really want the wider 130&140 they could just buy 130&140 /70 and stayed on 12" I have considered 120&130 /70-13 for the larger tire diameter to make bumps smoother. But have hesitated due to the negative affect on acceleration. |

Surely if there's a negative effect on acceleration it can be some what compensated for by changing roller weight.
I would like to try 140/70/13 on the rear and 130/70/13 on the front and I'm hoping to change roller weight to see what the outcome is, trial and error can be fun and frustrating at the same time of course all bikes are different so I will never know until I try it. |

That bike was insurance totalled in a car park which I have replaced with this (fell in love with the colour ) and want to make it the best I can for me |

They are from a mp3 so need modifying then which I believe grind one ring off near the centre cap

Depending on where you got the wheels, you might need the outer center cover. When I purchased mine they didn't come with it, however I found a 3d printer file for one. I may dig into it someday and change the piaggio logo to something else, but this seemed cheaper than tracking down a real one. I took the file to the local library and printed it for about 4 bucks.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a 13" swap myself.
From my research the MP3 wheels will need machining or the SIP hub and spacer. With used wheels machine work may have already been done. Easy enough to pull the rear wheel and test fit. |

It's a very straight forward job to remove the lip depending on what model of bike you have if you're handy with a file or Dremel the actual removal of material takes about 15 minutes no need for a machine shop, of course if you have a lathe at home you can do it that way,
It is hard to find the hexagonal piaggio center cap and you only need one for the front wheel but ockgravity over came that hurdle with 3D printing the cap. |

One wheel had a centre cap in it so that sounds like a win. I think I will drummer the wheel (then I don't have to buy the hub ). Do you guys think 130/60 front and 140/60 rear is the best tyre choices if any one has a better option love to hear

Jutboy wrote: Sorry I put earlier I am after more stability/comfort. I am not the fastest rider. I have a topbox and the this is better than my last for 💀 wobble but still a little Thanks 130 & 140 will increase stability. (Could also do these widths on 12 inch) But /60 instead of /70 will mean you'll feel the bumps a bit more as the tire is thinner so less to squish. I'm not saying a lot but some, especially on big bumps at faster speeds. |

On a previous GTS I ran 130/60-13 front and 140/60-13 rear.
Straight line stability was certainly improved. Steering became slightly slower and nicer in my opinion. The wheels fitted(BGM PRO SPORT) have German ABE Approval for the following tyre size combinations: Tire size (front axle): 130/60-13 in conjunction with Tire size (rear axle): 130/60-13, optionally 130/70-13, optionally 140/60-13 or Tire size (front axle): 130/70-13 in conjunction with Tire size (rear axle): 130/70-13, optionally 140/60-13 or Tire size (front axle): 140/60-13 in conjunction with Tire size (rear axle): 140/60-13 I now have a different GTS with 12s and do notice the difference! Scooteria did a review on yt regarding his 13 inch conversion. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWL2fhhdvQ0 Subtitles can be switched on if required. Looks good, but is the new-found stability worth the time and cost? Do you feel safer or more comfortable?
