What's the rubber grommet on the VBB choke cable for, and where is it supposed to end up when installed??

On top of the choke knob tube and cable. My cable had a transparent one that is barely visible here if you zoom in:

that piece fits just outside the rubber grommet on the chassis. it prevents the cable from moving.

Thanks for that. It makes sense. I've had it in the wrong place on the choke housing all these years.
