Just bought this one today. I checked the oil because I was going to change it anyway, but looks milky and overfilled. Anyone knows what the problem could be?

Milky -> 😱
She no good. Milly oil means it has mixed with coolant. Blown gasket or seal etc. ⚠️ Last edited by SteelBytes on UTC; edited 1 time

bought then checked oil?
should have check that before buying as big RED flag. your looking at a minimum top end gaskets |

Cappuccino anyone?!?
Flushed the milky oil and changed the filter. Started right away for about 20 min. Then I turned off to check the level, and had rough idle after. Just rechecked oil and it's a bit milky again. Also saw an oil leak. So next probably checking gaskets

A fast way is check the amount of coolant in your system, if the coolant is going to the oil, you are losing coolant (level reduce) and this explain why the oil level is a lot over the max.
And I agree with others, that can be a gasket only (finger crossed) or a mayor problem between the oil and coolant passages |

Have you installed Dr Pulley sliders, or an extra washer on the variator bushing? If so you will almost certainly torn open the oil sump gasket - and you might have done anyway, regardless of 'mods'. When reinstalling said gasket remember to trim off any excess that sticks put. It can be easier to trim it with scissors before installing.

Thanks guys!
Next I'll need to find out how to work on the gasket first (when you say water/coolant in the oil you mean the same thing, right?), and do I need to put it on a bridge/lift for that? I'm assuming the central stand isn't enough, is it? |

Seriously, the easiest way to do this is to remove the engine. You have to remove all but the engine swing-arm bolt anyway to swivel the engine enough to get to the gasket and inspect bearings etc.
It's not as hard a task as it sounds! Have a bench ready to lift the engine onto so you can work on it - and some pieces of scrap wood to provide a support to help keep the engine upright. |

Update, brought to a mechanic because I don't have enough tools and space to do the work myself.
Mechanic said it was indeed the water pump, so he ordered a new part from Germany which doesn't fit. So next, I was going to send the old water pump to scooter west (I think San Diego) so they can rebuild it. Rebuilding the pump doesn't seem east, however replacing the whole assembly doesn't seem hard I wish I had a way to do it myself. |

I'd be shopping for a new mechanic. Why order a water pump for an Italian scooter from Germany....?

Hopefully it didn't do many miles like that or you will next be looking for a new motor.
From Google's AI: "A water-oil emulsion can significantly damage bearings by weakening the lubricating oil film, leading to increased friction, excessive heat generation, corrosion, and ultimately premature bearing failure, even with small amounts of water present due to the disruptive nature of water molecules within the high-pressure bearing contact zone; essentially, water contamination in oil can drastically reduce bearing life." |

There is a difference in water pumps for a 2006 GTS 250, depending on when it was manufactured. I ran into this with my 2006 GTS 250.
You may have the same issue. Here is a link to my postings: Mag pickup damaged in water pump UPDATE I ended up sending it to Scooterwest to be rebuilt. |

Remove the water pump impeller cover, should be simple enough with only 3 screws. If the impeller wiggles your bearings are blown and causing the leak. Bad ceramic seals cause a weep, which then exposes the sealed bearings to coolant and then its game over. Once the bearings are compromised the impeller starts wiggling and allows oil contamination.
Early production 250 had a different stator which doesn't move over to later 250 pump housing (post April I believe). But rebuilding the water pump is not hard for a competent mechanic with proper factory tools for the job, or self made tools/puller and a press. |
