First time poster and first time rebuilding a Vespa Engine.

I am putting together a T5 engine and I am getting conflicting information on what type of bearings and seals I need for the driveshaft.

I am told that the one I purchased is wrong and I need a sealed bearing.

Website parts lists show different information so now I am at a loss.

Can someone please help me confirming what type of bearing and seals I need here?

If you would be able to send links to the specific parts it really would be appreciated.

Thank you [/img]

There are two different arrangements for driveshaft oil seal.

Some models have the seal behind the bearing (inner seal) on the gear stack side and others in front of the bearing (outer seal) closer to the hub. Take a look at your wheel hub if it has a smooth surface to match the outer oil seal. If not, you should run an inner seal arrangement.

Did you have a dust seal like this outside the bearing when you disassembled the engine?

Inner seal goes with sealed bearing and outer seal goes with normal unsealed bearing.

Thank you for your response FINYoshi. Unfortunately out of the many pictures I took during disassembly I did not take a good one of this setup. Here is the closest thing I have. The link you sent me that part does not look familiar.

Isn't that the front wheel shaft? What The? emoticon

You seem to have your driveshaft out of the engine. Take a picture of that and also
one of your driveshaft bearing from the other side.

Also have a look if you have this hole in your engine case.

Very very good eye regarding the front!

I am away from my engine at the moment and I am trying to do my best to find pictures that can help.

I did find the following picture that I hope can be of help. It does show a hole and I do believe it is the rear.
