I took this photo of the exhaust manifold from another post, so not my bike. This looks like a seal of some sort. Any idea what it is made of? Just curious really.

I believe that's just a spacer that the flange presses against when tightened down on the cylinder head. Should just be made out of steel.

There is, but it is rarely seen. There is a copper crush gasket that goes between the exhaust manifold and the cylinder head -- generally, it will be stuck up inside the cylinder head hole until skillfully removed with a sharp pick.

This one is for the BV350, but it is similar:
