Hello, this is my first post on the forum, although I've been watching what's going on here for a few years.

I'm currently rebuilding a Vespa PX 200 (without a battery and starter). I'm replacing all the electrics and I have a problem.

I bought a new installation and I already have an SIP speedometer.

I would like to buy a VAPE ignition - and here the question arises whether the AC version will work properly with the SIP speedor? Or do I have to choose the DC version?

The AC Vape and SIP speedo combination is working fine for me, but I have read posts saying DC with a battery is needed so it may not be guaranteed to work.

Yes, it works just fine with AC. I assume you already have the speedo working, just install the VAPE stator. You can keep the stock regulator. In the speedo settings change the rpm pulse from 3 (Ducati ignition) to 6…

On my mk.I P SIP speedo works with standard AC PX ignition. Sometimes it turn OFF-ON on the very low idle revs.

I am watching this thread! I am also contemplating installing a Vape DC Electronic ignition in my P125X that has points and a single yellow wire stator and 12V Battery. In addition I have a SIP Rev Counter 2.0 Speedo installed. Can it be done and still have all the functionality of the SIP Rev Counter 2.0 Speedo?

For sure you'll need DC feeding that badboy.
If you decide to go Vape DC, I highly recommend adding a battery.

Thanks for reply. I have bought new electrics (Italian version, super simple) and I don't feel it will be good for DC. So I think I have to give up led headlight.

Friends run Aliexpress LED headlights on AC and they work fine. They flicker a bit and some burn out eventually…

Any 5.75" Led headlight will fit a PX. Just pick the one you like…

I run an LED on my AC electric system and haven't had any problems. It does flicker a little at stops but I don't mind it. I rarely ride at night so I barely notice it.

I have a Vape and SIP speedo. Still needs a battery to avoid the speedo shutting down at low idle.

No! I prefer the SIP Vape advertising that says "90 watts at idle" or some such nonsense.
Sadly it's just not true and it's better to know in advance, and not wonder what you have done wrong.

I think you effectively cured me of buying a vape. Especially since a light wheel probably won't be a good idea for a 200 engine

Both smallframes that I restored (friend's ivory V50s and orange Special) run fine on idle and speedos stay ON. One has a Vape ignition, the other a PK 12V stock Ducati, both with the AC Vape regulator…

You have a sip speedo? Normal or led bulbs?

Ginch,

I am thinking of getting a Vape DC Electronic Ignition. I have a SIP Rev Counter 2.0 Spedo. I would be installing it in my 1980 P125X project. The light bulbs are all stock to include the headlight, it has a 12v battery. Will I get full functionality of the SIP Speedo to include the tachometer?

I don't know what you're doing differently to make them do that. Mine has shut down at low idle since it was new.

I've never connected my tacho so can't help there sorry Hec. If you have a battery in the system there should be no obstacle to proper functioning.

My speedo is the 2nd version, must be at least 7(?) years old now. I wonder if newer ones have a built-in capacitor to get them through the low voltage states?
