Hi. I'll be pestering y'all with questions as I work on fixing up my 67 Vespa 50.

Step 1 is figuring out exactly what I have since I can't go to the FLAPS for parts.

Is the last star over a zero? ?

I am reading this VIN as

V5A1T *59820* Or is it ...V5A1T*598200*

If it is 59820* I am reading it as a 1963N #1 series - MK1

My title says it is 69

If it is V5A1T*598200* , then a 1969 50 L #2 series - MK2

Am I doing this right?

I am leaning the latter. I know they are very similar parts wise but trying to do my due diligence. Thanks and looking forward to getting my rig on the road.

It's 59820, stars denote start and end of the serial. Serial records (6961 - 61346) puts it in 1964…

MK2s started from serial 200001 and onwards…

That shows how abbreviations have gotten out of hand.

Having said that, two of my favorites are FNG and FUBAR. Those two need to be kept.
After all, it's usually the FNG who causes something to become FUBAR.
