The engine light on my 2019 300gts frequently comes on and then later on turns itself off, and is pretty annoying. Sometimes I believe it is due to kick back of the engine during start up, but then other times it just comes on for no particular reason.
Since it is a 2019, there is no way for me to get a fault code. I was wondering if somewhere there is a listing of what faults will turn on the engine light on a 2019 GTS? At least that list would give me a starting point for trouble shooting future problems.

TIA

You can check for a failing voltage regulator if you have a multi-meter. Also check your battery terminals are tight.

Thanks for the replies. I completed a 30K miles service a couple of weeks ago. All fluids are new. Running voltage is @13.2 volts. The bike runs like new, but the light problem continues. It has been happening for about 6 months now.

Ok. Well, check the connections to the fuel injector and the grounding wire. Maybe swap out the spark plug and replace the battery if it's a few years old.

Great photo Randyjaco. The only time I've seen my engine light was during a long ride on a scorching day at a few stoplights. If your coolant level is correct, all I can do is wish you the best.

When my check engine light came on, I read a bunch of threads and loosened my gas cap for a day and it went away......any time it has happened since that is what i did and it seems to do the trick

Maybe it's an inverse type of indicator - if the light goes out, then you have a problem... Razz emoticon

I got along for years without a check engine light with few issues. Mine now just gives me something to worry about

I still remember the day it first came on. I was riding at 70 MPH for about two hours on an interstate highway. When I got off and was decelerating down the off-ramp it came on. And stayed on. I was worried and took the scoot to the Vespa dealer. No codes. Nothing wrong. So the tech told me to not worry.

So I didn't. A fine lesson. My TPMS light on my Honda Fit has now been on for a couple years. I got tired of replacing those sensors. So I now use a high tech device to monitor tire pressure. A three dollar tire guage...

Worry sucks.

I just keep the oil and coolant right. Filters clean. And check the tire pressures and such and just ride until it stops. And the stops have been simple things -- dead battery, dead fuel pump, loose spark plug cap.

I used to worry about valve checks but each time I suggested a check to the Vespa tech he would ask how it is running. If it ran ok he said not to worry about it. I recently had the first valve check. At 44K miles. And they were fine. Needed no adjustment.

I've adopted as much as possible Alfred E. Neuman's philosophy --- "What? Me Worry?"

It's particularly helpful as my 401K balance has been tanking lately...

apparently the evap system can cause this in particularly if you overfill the tank
