And looking objectively he had fulfilled his role before turning a wheel: Stock and brand values increased enough to justify his earnings. Winning the spring race was a huge bonus for Ferrari. As to the observation concerning Newey I wonder who that person is. Lawrence Stroll really no?! In any case it is irrelevant as he designs for himself. |

Next I think the team should have played it safe and have Max give position ´back´. The stewards have a clear history of not given Max any benefit of doubt. In the end Max would have won if they had and as such I note it down as technical team error. Driver of the day by LeClerc no doubt. About Piastri he shows time and again that he is more of a rácer than Norris. |

Having watched the entirety of today's race, I can say with certainty that Max is both a dirty cheat and a sore loser. Cutting short his post-race interview with David Coulthard just demonstrates what kind of a person he is.

jess wrote: Cutting short his post-race interview with David Coulthard just demonstrates what kind of a person he is. The best of the lot. Anyone remember my favorite F1 pilot James Hunt? He was way worse, just sold it with more humour in way more permissive times and was not nearly of same racing level. Nikki Lauda was acid too btw. Ah and the Iceman. Now I do not like this side to Verstappen one bit but out of todays stupidly politically correct perspective he is not the worst by fár and I cannot blame him either. He does not want to be a star, just ráce. He has been muzzled so simply says less. I can see him bail out of F1 because of the crap and F1 would be very much worse off. Like him or not, he is at least as good as Senna was and not in the same category of bad sportsmanship as Schumacher. I think F1 management should be wise to value the value of Max for it. For mé per example he is the only reason I started watching it again. |

Lance Stroll earned a new F1 record this weekend: most Q1 exits in F1 history. The previous record holder was Kevin Magnussen.
Asked about this dubious distinction, Lance replied: "Put the McLaren drivers in the Sauber for 10 years and they will have the most Q1 exits. It's car-dependent." The problem with that, of course, is that Lance doesn't drive for Sauber, nor has he ever driven for Sauber. Hell, he's only been in F1 for 7 seasons, so... yeah. Not really sure what point he is trying to make there. I think he's trying to say that Aston Martin have a shit car, though. Which will go down well with all the people at the factory who bust their collective asses to build a car around that ungrateful little shit. ⚠️ Last edited by jess on UTC; edited 1 time

As he has proven to have the talent to be on the podium his lacklustre performance is ALL exactly thát. No secret is that his dad only got into F1 to put his son in a car and the open question is what will happen if son dear goes play with different toys. Nice for Newey; designing the next gen F1 car for... yes for what??? Alonso is not going to win any races anymore imo. Though he is designing as a personal challenge it returns very little gratification if the drivers are not as fast as the car. And then there is Honda. They are designing a whole new power unit. Not a good horizon for that investment is it?! |

Well, everyone is designing a new power unit so I'm not sure what the point is.
Stroll is delusional about his level of talent, his lack of self awareness and his level of smugness and complacency are unsurpassed. He's not that bright either. The second that Daddy Big Bucks starts to lose interest in racing he'll be gone and for me that day can't come quick enough. So if Honda are going to have some say in who will be driving for the team, whose going to make way for Yuki ? |

Well, not really.
Monobrow isn't going anywhere and Alonso will have to retire to make a space for either Yuki or less likely Verstappen. |

My feeling is that he could retire at the end of this year. |

Currently he is scoring podiums in Superbike Anyway, we will see and for the moment he is the much needed salt in the what imo would otherwise be rather bland porridge. Speaking of retirement, I can see Lewis Hamilton moving out this season. Again many variables but imo more likely than Max retiring. I think he is doing very well; as good as should be expected even, but after the stupid chauvinist Brit hype about him going to get his ´robbed´ 8th Championship it looks an anti climax. Good for Ferrari that they are backing him |

Spanish press is neutral enough towards non Spanish drivers but concerning their own as chauvenist as Brit and Dutch. I can simply not listen to Dutch Olav Mol. Like p.e. Herbert he seems to watch a different race. German and Italian press are brand biassed which is slightly less noticable towards the drivers´performances. Anyway, if I can find the stream, I go Latino. As a bonus I like the accent. |

Peter Windsor´s positive take on Verstappen´s post race interview was a refreshing read. I did not get it this way.
He makes a good case so changed my opinion and now Coming back to Lance Stroll, oddly enough áll of AM´s points in the standings were tallied up by him. I know; different strategies, luck, etc. Still striking after fíve! races. |

Merecedes seems to be trending up... Red Bull not so much. I cant see him pulling what would be at best a lateral move. Skeptical.

More so because Mercedes are likely to have the strongest power package next year. And íf there would be contact it would be through his manager. Unless Max moves, nobody important will move and Max is not going anywhere unless development of the RB power unit is falling flat. Imo the dark horse is in the Ferrari shield. Cannot see Max going thataway though untill they prove themselves under the new regs. Thén he probably will. First though we get to see whether there is anything real in the weird flexi-wing saga. |

I wouldn't surprise me if he walked away either at the end of this year or even during this year. |
