Hi I am in need of spray paint for my GTS 300 code 770/B. I purchased a kit from "scratches happen" company but the color does not match as expected. Any other suggested, recommended company? Thank you

770/B is grey Dolomiti, right? The Metalic paints are sold here in Europe as a basecoat with a separate clearcoat (as a spray can or for the spray gun). Only after the clear coat has been applied does the color match the original paint of the vehicle. I don't know your supplier's offer, is the basecoat and clearcoat separate?
Please show photos of the damage and the result of your paint test (preferably in visual comparison to the original paint). |

That is the correct color!!! I fell on the side and I had a nasty scratch down to the metal. I sanded with 200, 400 and 600 sandpaper. I primed the area and then painted, clear coated blending with original paint but the color difference was significant so I sanded again.

You've not sanded your body properly. You need to use a wide range of sandpaper right down to a 3000 wet and dry.
You then need to paint the whole read, not just a spot area. In your case I'd sand back the whole f the panel to the curve before priming again. You'll need at least 2 maybe 3 coats after than primer and then I'd leave it for over 36 hours before applying the clear coat. |

You also need to remove the side panel underneath and sand that right back in the same way I mentioned above. You completely rushed that job.
Start it properly., sand all areas right back, prime and take your time. Let's dry. Do not do things in parts expecting it to look good. The whole areas need painting and painting properly. |

I did paint the whole panel but failed to prime it first! Thank you any suggestions where I can find a good 770/B color? The one I used was too dark. Thank you again

pro results with a spray can
Should be able to source paint in a spray can locally at an auto paint supply. If they don't have the Vespa code in their system, should be able to read the color with a spectrophotometer like they had to do for mine. If you can't source locally my shop sells online, website is in my post. Key to factory finish is the SprayMax 2k clear, 2 part catalyzed urethane just like factory clear. Good idea to do a test panel first on a piece of scrap to verify color match. When I did mine I found that switching from white primer to light grey yielded a better color match. Another suggestion is at minimum to scuff and recoat your existing clear after the color repair all the way back to a "cut" line like a body seam because with a spray can paint job you're not going to be able to blend the clear. If you don't have a perfect color match may want to do this with color as well. |
