hello, on my vespa 90 frame there is a missing 'V' for the prefix, but the dating service confirmed it's identity with vin without the V to be accurate with Piaggio logs, on my v55/5 I used the vin without the V in the prefix and sent it off yesterday along with the NOVA reference number. One thing I'm mega worried about is the vin not matching up with the NOVA, I know for a fact the V wasn't there before the import since it has been repainted and during the import the paintwork was damaged from the straps, so hopefully they had to do a inspection to confirm the frame number for the import thus what I've got will work? If it doesn't work out what would you recommend me, I've contacted Piaggio to see if they can use the other manufacturer codes on the frame to confirm the VIN or maybe contact the previous owner to see if they can correct the 'V' that could be present on the nova to HMRC? Again DVLA might accept this since the nova might not have included the missing V. I believe there was a weld repair on the frame next to the V due to a crack as I can see rough metal behind it going quite far up the side fender before the import but all the vin remaining is the original stamp.

Your question is incredibly jurisdiction specific, so you're going to need to provide a lot more detail about exactly what's going on here, including exactly what you're doing (import/registration/certification/title) and in what country/state/province/canton/etc. you're doing it.

A picture of the VIN itself and the scooter itself will also help with diagnosis.

I'm going to delete this soon and make a better report if the registration is unsuccessful, sorry for the confusion

I got it all sorted, I was very lucky that the NOVA didn't include the full vin number and only the frame number not prefix so got it changed with just a dating certificate and that reference number, not even had to contact original importer. Seems dodgy but it worked
