Hi all,

After 12 years in my garage, I vowed this is the year I'm going to take out my 86 Vespa!

I can't even believe I'm asking this, but I have no power and I can't find the battery. I've checked under the seat, under the floor mat, and in the left cowl and the battery is nowhere to be found. Is it possible there isn't one?

Should be under the left cowl in the middle of the spare tire if it has one. It may not have a battery.

Thanks! It looks like it did have a battery at one time but I don't see any connections and I certainly didn't change it.

This scooter has been running once or twice since I've owned it, so maybe it no longer has a battery? If that's the case, where do I get power from? I have none at the moment

Battery's probably deleted and that's not a PX but a PK. Battery isn't necessary for ignition / starting the engine...

Yes, sorry it's a PK50XL and I've updated the title.

So, without a battery how does it draw power? At this point, the scoot has zero signs of life. Am I just looking for spark at the plug? I'm not really sure what to do.

You have an AC alternator lurking within that fan that spins around keeping your engine cool. Usually called the stator attached to the engine case, and the rotor is part of that fan.

Do you know if it has electric start?

And yes, first thing to do is pull the plug and check for spark w/ the key turned on. Good luck!
Hopefully yours is in better shape than the one i'm now working on.

The red, white & green go to your CDI for spark Coming out the other side is the blue for power to lites etc, ground is black and green kill wire when you shut it down.
