Hi, I'm new, so sorry if I'm repeating a question.
I ride a 2006 Vespa GTS250.
Should I go to another forum, or is this one ok?

still a good question though; whát is NSM?
For me personally it is two-strokes. Hand shift too but the Problematics are definitely NSM. Right and then the LML products. The 200 cc 4-stroke with the classic Vespa hand shift in a PX chassis is a very moment in scoot history imo and most certanly NSM even though 2015/16. Imo all the Vespa chassis based LMLs are NSM. The latter points to a ´psychological´ consideration; the classic Vespa chassis for mé. Less of criterium but illustrative none the less is that a Vespa chassis LML passes unnoticed in a classic Vespa meet and is simply part of the herd. |

The last NSM Vespa (as in derived from the 1946 original) was the P range.
The 1990 Sfera was the first Piaggio scooter made with a plastic body, and started the Modern Vespa era (IMHO) |

Any Vespa with a clutch and a gear shifter on the left hand is a 'Not So Modern'. Everything else is modern…

I use Modern, traditional, and vintage. I would place p-series to PX/Stella in traditional (steel chassis, geared) Anything older I consider vintage.
There are exceptions to the rule- vintage bikes that are automatic. Triumph Tina comes to mind. Just my opinion. |

Heh - I googled "plurimatic" and the very first result was this thread on NSM: Vespa PK50 Plurimatic
It doesn't sound like a bike that anyone would want to get mixed up with! |

Anyway, despite that, I think the thing is NSM although it does not RÉNGDENGEDENG like the shifties. It sounds modern because there is this no shifting constant engine sound and basically no over run. This is my biggest ´objection´ to the Plurimatic; it´s engine revs sound like any modern scoot. |

It also relates to how you view "twisties"
If you think throttle, then likely it's a "Modern" If you think windy roads then "Not-so-Modern" If you like the silence of a Tesla, then "Modern" If you like the smell of 2-stroke in the morning, then "Not-so-Modern" If composites and plastics rock ya socks, then "Modern" If steel gets ya rock hard, then "Not-so-Modern"

Two stroke, air cooled, manual gearbox. Those three ingredients are are what we need to make the NSM Vespa cake. Adding age into the mix gets you a 'classic' in the UK, as any vehicle which is 40 or more years old is considered classic by the government. Even a 1985 P/PX series can be a classic!

It's only supposed to be driven on a limited basis as a "recreational" vehicle but I don't know what would happen if they caught you driving it too much. Or if they would even bother pulling you over for it. |
