Hi!

This thread is about my Vespa LX50 Touring 2012 mod
Bought it one day as my car broke down, and i just enjoy it so much that i started doing some mods. Brings me straight back to the good old days of 2007 when i had a Rieju SMX with Metrakit Prorace setup and a Yamaha Aerox with Athena 80 for wheelies.

At first it was bone stock, removed restrictors etc and drove it to work a couple of times. Then it started getting worse, found compression on the original cylinder to be low.
The belt of the oil pump had lost teeth and was very loose so i imagine there has not been enough oil.. Facepalm emoticon

Got a DR 70 Sport cylinder, a jet kit, a Gianelli GO exhaust and some lighter rollers for it. Have driven it around 500km like this. Works fine but could be better.

Found the crank to be bent aswell when replacing the rollers. That explains some of the weird vibrations this scooter had.

So i ordered some more parts to make the tuning complete.

The setup will be:
- DR 70cc Sport
- Cobra Racing crankshaft
- Gianelli GO exhaust, might change for Malossi Wild Lion?
- 21mm Dellorto PHBG BS carb
- Malossi VL11 reed
- TopPerformance original+ intake
- Supertec Twin Slot karting filter, or gutted original filter box with Polini filter inside
- Malossi Overrange variator and pulley
- Malossi fly clutch and clutch bell
- Malossi Secondary gears 14/47, Malossi Primary gears 16/37
- YSS Gas shocks front and rear

I hope the modest DR 70cc cylinder can pull these gears and the Malossi Overrange kit. I would like a cruising speed of 70kmt, and i feel that should be possible as it cruises at 60kmt now with no issues.

Would appreciate any feedback!

Sounds good!

Progress photos really help to tell a tale though
