Salutations everyone,

its been a long while since i posted a project on here, work and life balance have met a par when i can finally do so

I obtained this a few years ago and am in the process of stripping to rebuild and recommission. I would say "Restore", but that seems to be an over used and abused term these days and can cover anything being done... so I am choosing the terms Rebuild and Recommission

Plans are as follows.
*Replace the existing paint and damaged bodywork with as close to an original as i can using powder-coat and replacement panels.
*Rebuild the engine
*Recommission the electric start
*Add front disk brake
*Restore functionality to rev counter

not a lot from the sound of it, but plenty to keep me occupied for a while. I will add some photos of progress as i develops and have some to share already

I dont know much about this scooter model other than it existed. no idea of numbers produced etc etc... so if anyone can shed any light on it, i will gladly absorb whatever you can tell me about it

Did some work on the forks, first off was to check for straight and true so out came the digital level. There is 0.1 degree of variance across the length of the leg. So I'm calling that good enough.

I found it quite surprising that it was this good, I've checked against brand new forks from a PX in my stock and they are 0.3 degrees of variance

Got out the press and removed the pivot pin on the front fork and proceeded to wire brush off coats and coats of paint. Found a relatively good match for the silver on the fork leg and applied that.

I have a new wishbone arm to go on it as the bearings and hub spindle were not up to scratch on the existing one and I didn't want to spend the time pressing a new pin into the old wishbone, bit of a pain in the *** I find when it comes to ensuring the protruding length is sufficient to match the hub/backplate before re assembly.

Next up is the modification to the handlebars to add hydraulic front disc

I've gone for the round hub as opposed to the star hub as I think it blends into the aesthetic better

I also added a master cylinder mount to my T5's handlebar. Disc brakes was definitely an upgrade!

Great to hear someone else does this too! I thought long and hard about it as I'm planning on running a stock engine with a box pipe. I unned and ahhh about it then decided that if a car pulls up fast in front of me I want to NOT run into the back of them. Any suggestions on disk or pads to utilise? Or is stock sufficient for this?

FYI I run a disk on my P2 and it's tuned, but I feel it needs more stopping power also

Oh unhappy moment!!!

I picked the engine up to start dismantling it and the crank is locked solid... not sure at this time if it's the piston seized into the polini barrel or something else... I will have to dismantle and split the casings to get the crank out

Everything else was going so well.....

Received a call this morning from the Powder Coating Place.

Toddled over to collect it and it looks a nice finish, I have deliberately and will deliberately leave some of the minor dings in place that are still visible. Th3se to me help show the age of the vehicle and some of it's history is still intact for all to see... Plus it also makes it plainly obvious that it's not all filler or as I think it's termed in America "Bondo"

It looks very white in these photos, it's actually a subtle cream colour- as close to the original paint u could find in a powder coat finish
Zoom in and you will see some panel deviation I have deliberately ledt

Had a bit of a wrestling match with the fitting of the pivot pin, but it's nearly there... just need to finish of seating the locking tabs in and I can call that job finished

Plus added a J Hancock to the frame for any future owner to ponder over

That made me chuckle 😃

Not much to post about today, I cleaned up the front and back shockers and gave them a flick of paint - the front disk hub too.. I ended up swapping for a star hub as opposed to tbe full round disk hub. That was also damaged. Used parts always carry a risk and this was an unlucky purchase. Thankfully I had spare setup so on that went.

Fed the wiring loom through also and called it a day

Post progress will be a little bit slower for a while as I wait for parts to land in the post

Progress update.

I rummaged around my stock if nuts and bolts and found enough stainless fasteners to ready the legshield for the toolbox, routed tne wiring loom into the frame and added some of the electrical components back in while i wait for the rubber grommets to arrive

Fitted the centre mat too.

The fasteners for the electrics will be replaced with oxide and paint free kit when it lands.

Found a new.old stock Disc for the front hub and installed that today, making sure I put the rotation arrow in the right direction

I'll probably start on the engine properly next week as I have been pondering options for it.

Little b8t more progress today. Started putting tne forks back together.

Put the original shocks back in the frame with new rubbers - after checking they were OK.

Added a few rubbers and plastic bits - bought a load or repro rubber parts and they are way way to hard... so I went rummaging and found old ones that are "good enough"

After ordering a few different types if fuse holder to replace the broken unobtanium one. I can now look to install it. I should also hopefully be able to use the existing mounting holes too. So if I can it's a double bonus
Looks to be good for.what I need.

You are entirely correct sir. The square tail is an added extra to a pretty much standard EFL frame

Your positive comment is greatly appreciated. Your own work is superb

The photos and notes o took of the indicator wires corrupted and I'm stuck pondering my next move.

Indicator wires on the front are coloured
Left = blur
Right = Brown

At tne side panel end they are coloured
Purple and white with a blue stripes.

Can anyone tell me which one of the rear ondicators is for which side?? I worked out the front ones easily enough based on the little squeaker being placed on the right side..

Help!

Well the last week was a busy one doing work and stuff for HrH

Spent a bit of time in the workshop and connected the indicators following the link to the diagram I was kindly provided in the thread.

Did the rear light, horn and started to clean up the indicator housing

Will be in the shop tomorrow for a sorting the brake light switches for a mate and then get on with some more fun stuff
