Was gonna propose the use of the ol' 4"x1mm disc... 😁 but I guess new old stock will suffice.

Oh believe me it was considered

+ shortening the holding tube down by a few mm and turning the gear pulley back to front..

I pondered what to do about the borderline values on the pickup and ignition coil on the stator plate....

Did I want to repair what I had or go the easy route and replace.....

I decided im a masochist and this is this evenings task

Stripped the speedo apart and gave the original plastic bezel and flyscreen a quick polish with some plastic cutting compound / polish.

Fitted new grips and buttoned it up...

Getting there slowly

Looking good, it just needs the correct grips. Piaggio decided to restart their production, OEM code is 179883...

Gave it a cheeky little test start off the elestart

Engine runs on choke - so need to set the mixture and timing properly

Lights dont work yet, but there is power coming from the stator - probably dead rectifier, will sort that soon

Lots of bits yet to fettle and finish. But she starts so that will do for today's win

Oh I will, its currently on 2 litres of premix while I took some readings from the regulator/rectifier

1.5 to 4v AC is my output from the rectifier snd 6v from the dc output ...... so that's internally goosed

New one ordered

Fitted the new parts only to find a new issue...

Somewhere along the length of the existing wiring loom is at least one short. So I got the cutters out and removed the old loom in a grump. It was all back together and looked great.

Now its all apart again... the order for the new loom, switches etc from an early PX disc electric start model will now be fitted and adapted.

I know I took a chance an a multi decade old original loom originally, but it metered up fine, ah well, Costa Fortuna is definitely living up to the name.

Sanity check on the meter is recommended. If it's a digital unit, stick it in the 230Vac mains and on a 12V battery. See if it tracks. Not guaranteed, but should illustrate if it's ok.

If it is, then 1.5V to 4V is your ripple. Maybe it's the buck boost struggling, it is a switcher supply after all. Edit: wrong topic 😂
