I'm looking for a suggestion for a dog carrier that hangs from the front bag hook for about a 24 lb dog.

It's a lot of weight to hang on a hook. I have a dog that weight and experience traveling with it. For a short distance, it's a bag with only the head sticking out. I put it in front of my feet. For a long distance, it's a wooden box that is attached to the trunk. Plastic is unreliable.

. 🤦🏽‍♀️. That weight limit is to HANG bags. I thought it was obvious it would be to just stabilize any dog carrier, not hang a 25 lbs carrier.

Nelson Rigg has been making good motorcycle gear for ages. My tall touring bag is very well made.

I found this on Revzilla, that could go in the pillion position or the rear rack (weight might be an issue on the rear rack).

https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/nelson-rigg-route-1-rover-pet-carrier?sku_id=1807264

Also - google came up with some good choices as well.I just google "dog carrier for motorcycles"

Good luck and show us pics when you've got the solution that works for you and your pup.

My experience with bikes or scooter, both jack russel or yorkshire----givi rack givi box at l least46 liters in size--hole in top box must fit head to come up but narrow enough so dogs shoulder cannot pass thru----depending on dog I may use safety chain fixed to box Givi is not cheap but great ---Ithrew my E-46 givi box away after more than 20 years and maybe 20 countries----box on ,many bikes and scooter----but always the box was mounted on givi rack---Jack Russel may 20 pounds-Yorkshire maybe 10 lbs/

I would be concerned about the bumps and vibration the pup would be subjected to.

If you're looking to place this carrier in the tunnel between your legs, you might consider getting a center rack that mounts over the battery compartment. This would give you a very secure mounting point. You could also just ass some D-rings between the screw heads and the rubber mat.

A large tunnel bag could then be modified and used for your needs.

No, the carrier would still hang from the hook, just not dangle.

I don't think you can compare the weight of a Yorkshire Terrier with a dog weighing 12 kilograms. As far as I remember, plastic cases are designed for a weight of up to 5 kilograms.
Of course, you can put more, but the fasteners are plastic and you can lose the dog at speed.
