Ok so I just purchased the above. I was told that there was starting issues with it. It was really slow cranking off the battery but started when applying a portable booster pack. So initial thoughts a bad battery so should be ok. Gets home still slow cranking even off the boost pack.
I hooked up the battery to multi meter and it was showing 11.04 v disconnected the and too the negative to the engine still 11.04 v by the way when I did the same with just the booster connected 12.56 v. . Unbolted all the earth and starter motor terminals cleaned and sprayed with contact cleaner still slow cranking . Removed the starter motor cleaned and tested seems to spin fine when connected to 12v booster. Greased cleaned further and re fitted. Still slow cranking. Only options I have now is relay (ordered a new one ) could it be the loom. To the starter motor. I did notice that when I refitted the starter motor and applied the booster before putting the - / + from the loom on it cranked a little faster but no where near enough to start so am I thinking the starter motor is tech fecked What's your thoughts guys. Missus is doing my nut in as I bought it her her to run. Thanks in advance.

Oh yes the battery is currently on charge even though I've ordered a replacement as I'm not sure how old it is but seems to be taking ages to charge.

If the battery had been sitting at below 12V for any length of time, it's as good as dead. A de-sulphation regime from an Optimate or similar might give it a few more weeks - but I wouldn't bother. Just go and get a new LiFePO4 one.

The Vespa Granturismo 200 is called a GT200, and is carbureted. The GTS is the EFI model.

If the battery has been dead for very long at all, it is toast. Might not be completely dead, but will have seriously reduced power output. I would try connecting another battery or a booster pack directly to the battery cables, with the scooter battery disconnected. Having a bad battery still connected can prevent full current from reaching the starter.

It would be nice to be able to measure the amp draw of the starter motor, but I can't find that information anywhere.

I recommend using an SLA or AGM lead acid battery.

I have such connectors in the closet as well, they are related to the expansion of the electric accessories (alarm). Also, I don't have them involved. Do you miss the fuse cabinet? It should be on the displayed side of the cabinet .

Just take off, clean and replace all the wires related to the starter motor. Battery to relay, relay to starter motor, battery to frame. That's six connections to be cleaned and tightened with a smear of some dielectric grease.

Still lazy? Do a voltage drop test across each of those three segments in turn while trying to start.

What battery did you buy, and did you give it a good forming and equalising charge before first use??

I know I'm a noob but I haven't seen the voltage regulator mentioned yet? I saw a similar problem on another thread and it turned out to be the voltage regulator. That 11.7 volts was exactly what the other OP saw
