Just got my 2020 Piaggio Liberty 50 back from the shop for a Malossi 80cc big bore kit install. This also applies to anyone with an IGET 50 like the Vespa Primavera 50.

--WOWZERS!--

I knew it would be an improvement, but the 80 cc kit with new EFI + performance variator and rollers have that thing BOOMING. Look, it's still no 150, or the Burgman 400 I rode for a long time, but it is a major major difference from stock. I'm around 190lbs, and it was pulling me at a decent incline at 45mph. No way stock does that. Acceleration is far more respectable compared to the lag it used to have. Had the speedometer up against the 50mph "top speed" reading regularly on straightaways. I don't know my actual speed, but I do know it was too fast for that speedometer to indicate. Of course, I don't really need the top end - what I was after is the ability to maintain the speed of traffic on 40mph roads, even uphill, and it is every bit capable. The stock 50cc had me regularly driving on the side to let cars pass. Not anymore!

I don't want to oversell your expectations, but the difference is night and day. The shop mechanic basically implied it was the most impressive big bore he'd ever installed on a 50cc, and they do them all the time - but this was the first on an IGET machine, usually just carbureted models. If you are looking into this kit, but on the fence, DO IT!

I will note I have done cylinder changes before on older machines, but this was no job for a tinker person. I'd recommend paying for a professional to do it. Total expense is near but under $1,000 for the parts and service. WORTH IT for anyone who can afford it but is trying to maintain appearances as a 50cc machine.
