I have an issue where with the seat open the tang that holds it falls back into place so that the seat won't close. I suspect its a spring but damned if I can find the part number? Or do I just buy the whole mechanism? Part numbers for either much appreciated (Yes I have the parts manual but just can't seem to find it)

You may not need a new one.

Mine have don't that and I use a screwdriver to work it back open.

Then a little lubricant will get it working properly.

and you were right. I found that the two plates had spread that support the lock mechanism so that it slipped past the stop. A squeeze with pliers sorted it
