Hi all,

Just picked up a Supertech but I'm having trouble connecting it via Bluetooth.

My phone can see the BT-Router, but it just won't connect. Has anyone else had this issue?

Here's what I've tried so far:

Reset the pairing on the bike

Restarted the phone and attempted to connect again

I believe the TFT display should show something like "Ready to Pair," but nothing comes up.

I've also contacted Vespa – they gave me an email address, but I've sent three messages over a month with no replies. I called my local Vespa dealer, but they seemed to think I was doing something wrong. They charge £90 an hour to look at it and have a four-week wait.

Could the Bluetooth module be faulty?

Thanks

You have to select "pairing request", it's on the same menu as pairing reset.

Some progress....

I disconnected and reconnected the battery. I am know can connect to the app and see all the live data from the bike but I still can't connect to BT Router.

I also get a notification in the app saying that navigation is not supported by my bike. There is also no phone icon on the bike.

It seems happy to send data but not receive it

Apparently it's the name of the device in the app. See the screenshot in the first post.

… or it isn't? Could it not be the Vespa but another device that's in Bluetooth range?

If a Brit writes "BT Router" then one thinks of a British Telecom router (BT being the ISP) - no bluetooth there, just wi-fi and ethernet.

if you're seeing live data then you *are* connected.

quickest answer: reinstall and make sure you select "gts supertech" not "gts".

don't need it for normal use. but if you want it then at least on android you need to go to the btrouter in the list of pair devices and edit it and enable 'phone calls' and 'access contacts' etc.

Lastly if you're on android then I strongly suggest using my app instead of their crap.

In this generation (2nd) of bluetooth in vespas the bluetooth name of the bike is BT-ROUTER . stupid name don't expect quality.

first gen was called PMP and current generation (3rd) its called PMP3:1234 (numbers vary per bike).

so why is router part of the name? because bluetooth helmets can be directly paired with the bike. then audio (music/phonecalls) can be sent from the phone to the bike and then the bike sends to the helmet. think this is so the joystick on the bike can directly contol the phonecall/music without needing the app running. ie the joystick can act like the buttons on a classic set of bluetooth head phones

Just an update for you all, had a bit of back and forth with Vespa, I even pointed them to this forum but they have come back with this...

"Apparently the BT module installed on your vehicle is not the correct one for the specific vehicle.

Sadly it's not possible to reflash it with correct one without unlocking the diagnostic tool.

At the same time, accessing the unit for replacement is quite time consuming for the dealer.

Please let me know your reference dealer and I'll check if we can arrange a guided procedure for forcing reprogram and organize a session when you bring the vehicle there.

I was going to say to check the module installed. I had that problem until they flashed the bios on my module. They had to do it again when I had the OEM heated seats and grips installed.

Dealer had to get the correct firmware from Piaggio to do it. Originally they wanted me to buy the "new" module at nearly $300 but I pointed out that according to Piaggio specs when I bought the scooter the module supported the heated seats and grips. Took a few phone calls and visit to the dealer to get it resolved.

FYI RideRetro has a completely different Bluetooth system. Theirs is PMP2 and yours is PMP3 which are made by completely different companies - both the software and the hardware.

But that's not to say that Piaggio didn't fuck up with what's installed in theirs ...

Any a highly likely thing to have happened.dealer kept telling me I had PMP2 so would have to buy PMP3. In the end I was told their tool misread and after updating it and getting new firmware and software updates suddenly I "had" the correct module.
