Just got my 600 mile service at my relatively local southern Oregon Vespa dealer (Rapley Motorsports, in Grants Pass, about 35 miles away from my home)! I also took the plunge and bought a flyscreen - the official Piaggio model - which they had in stock, and installed for me. It actually does seem to lessen the wind hitting me at highway speeds, though that may be merely my imagination.
There's something truly satisfying about walking into a small dealership where the owners are thoughtful and smart - and where the showroom is full of gleaming Vespas and Piaggios - while the large shop area has a diverse selection of interesting motorcycles as well as the scooters they service. For fellow Piaggioholics or Vespisti passing through southern Oregon, it's worth making a stop in Grants Pass.
Wow!
The dealer put this rubber edging on w/o you asking?
Some dealers know about this glare issue - the parts counter-man at Vespa Motorsport knew of the complaints. He's heard them from Liberty customers using the Piaggio fly-screen out there in California.
I just didn't hear that from them before I ordered one from them. The official Piaggio screen is twice the price of the Faco screen - which does not have the glare-back issue. The Faco and Malossi screens are cut differently around the Liberty's headlight.
I wasted too much time trying to re-fit it after a dealer here told me I was just not clever enough to fit it correctly.
It IS better looking than the Faco, IMHO.
Whatever.
See how it should have been constructed
