Help needed, I'm trying to remove the ignition lock body on my 84 px, I have removed the barrel but can't remove the lock body to replace with the new one i have bought. The original works ok but is tatty looking, I'm hoping to remove this before I respray the frame. Any advice would be much appreciated.

May help us get a better idea of where you are at?

If you look closely around the metal tube (underneath) where the steering lock and lock itself connect. You will see a small hole.

That hole engages with tbe little spring tab in the lock mechanism and I'd you press something small into it you can use that and the key to remove the lock.
With that removed you can then remove tne actual ateeing lock . Then from the side under the hitncasting you can tap the body out.

Just be careful as you do. There is a small piece of bent spring steel that will disappear if you attack with too much gusto

If it were a brand new bike, you could lever the body out with a pair of small screwdrivers
