Finally, the top case can also be mounted/dismounted on a folding luggage rack without tools.

Previously, you needed a luggage rack to do this, which could be done without tools using a central screw, but then the ugly carrier remained in place...

The new top case is not yet available to order (not even in Europe) and there is no information on the price yet.

This is a much better design than the previous model/system.

However, I believe that my Topeak MTX quik-release system is much more functional for everyday use.
Rear Rack Quick-Release Basket on FACO Rack
I can remove/install my basket in less than 1 second, and then use my basket as a shopping basket (or whatever). I have a net for the basket, and I have a rain cover for the basket. The only advantage the topcase has over my basket is that the topcase can be locked.

1. a basket is not a top case...
2. if a holding plate is still there, the aesthetic sense is lost (to put it politely).

The rare time that I actually remove my top box (SHAD) this new VESPA system isn't bad at all. Concerning a basket I just use the bag hook and a reusable shopping bag.

not for me.

Mine gets used a couple of times every week.

related: the springs on the folding rack are such poor quality that they broke after a couple of years presumably due to the stress of the back/forth forces on the box and hence rack when riding on even slightly rough roads. all classically shit piaggio design.

I'll probably just stick with my Givi.

Nice design - too bad it is not truly tool-less and that the screw and washer do not stay in place. Nice that it does not leave any trace behind when removed. The Shad one I have is much much easier to take on and off, but does leave a plastic mounting plate at all times.

Which tool did I miss? The coin or a thin sheet of metal to turn from "Lock" to "Open"?

There are screws with a fixed washer or wide head. Alternatively, put a drop of Locktite or nail varnish under the washer (although this makes no Sense of the purpose of a washer, which is to transmit force, but it is probably negligible in this case).

Hi!
sorry, but this is terrible.
in order to remove the box you need to pull everything out of it? seriously?
I use Shad, you can find it by pressing the button under the key for 1 second.
Shad loses to Piaggio in beauty and it knocks a little with the lid, don't do it, but it is very convenient.

It doesn't have a carry handle and is awkward to carry about anyway. So I think you are meant to remove your stuff so you can remove the box, not use the box as luggage like a lot of other brands.

I'll stick to my Givi and Shad cases. Turn key, press bottom, carry inside with handle. Okay it leaves a plate behind but I only remove it when I want to carry everything in it inside, usually when traveling. If I have to unload it there is no reason for me to remove it.
