Hello,

After riding, maintaining and repairing motorcycles for over 30 years I have bought a MP3 400 LT scooter for a nice price with a not so nice problem

The roll lock system will not lock.
The orange light seems to function normally. It starts flashing when I bring the bike to a standstill and turns off again when I accelerate.

When I want to lock, the roll lock malfunction light comes on and it beeps for 5 seconds, then silentl for 1 second and that pattern repeats itself.

When I press unlock 2 or 3 times, everything is "normal" again, red light goes off, beeping stops.

When I press the lock button, I hear something clicking. Sounds like a relay or solenoid valve.

What could be the cause of this problem?

I have checked the hydraulic fluid level. Judging by the color the fluid seems old, but the level is ok.

I tried a method I found on Youtube:

Remove the rubber cap on the end of the electric motor, insert a flat blade screwdriver en free a possibly stuck motor by turning it.

Additional to the inscruction on Youtube I did this with the battery disconnected, worrying the control unit might "freak out" if it detects sudden movement.

I did this without dismaounting anything, everything mounted on the scooter.

It is rock solid, I can not turn the screw (axis?) inside. Is this normal, is there any type of brake holding the motor? Or should it move freely?

Problem solved!
In the end it turned out to be in the gear box where the black electric motor is screwed on. On the bottom of this gear box there is a black plastic cap. If you remove this you can manually turn the system with a small flat screwdriver in the hole. Mine was stuck solid.

In the gear box there is a large gear with a number of damaged teeth. I have the idea that it only turns a quarter turn, so I turned the gear half a turn so that there are good teeth again at the worm gear on the shaft of the electric motor.
Everything cleaned and re-greased and now everything works fine again.

I am now starting to wonder what caused the damage to the gearwheel.
When engaging the tilt lock the last 0,5 second (approx.) I here the load on the engine increases. Maybe the stopposition is not correct?

How can I check if the stoppositon is correct?
