Yellow Springs Ohio does nothing to discourage the State from referring to it as a Hippie Village.
There are a number of interesting folks in Y.S. - but, 55+yrs on? - there are darn few 1960's hippies still above ground in the village. A few - and they are cherished citizens.
Y.S. is a "destination village" for many Ohioans, and most days of the week it is a busy little town. Motorcyclists cruise through town - all 2 blocks of it - showing off. I've seen everything from a Bugatti to old VW buses parked at the curb.
Every so often the paid brains of the village get the wild hair to charge for parking within the village.
Most every shop owner I've talked to think that charging for parking is a lousy idea. The shops are dependent on more than the 3,500 'Springers who live there! "Why dissuade visitors with paid parking?"
No small town for miles around charges for street parking.
So, will the council shoot themselves right between the toes of their sandals? They're floating the idea. Again.
O.S.
PS: not sure how many times Dave Chappelle will keep bailing out my coffee village!
