Hi,

Live in the Nordics, Piagoo nordic group seem to want to sell 2024 year models before they introduce the updated engine on 2025, the GTS 310 Supersport in my case.

Notice good stock in Germany, likely the case in the Netherlands, Poland aswell.

Do anyone know a dealer that can sell me one without VAT so that I can import to the Nordics and pay the VAT here?
That is how you do it in the EU and standard 1A for car dealers in EU.

Thank you!

Welcome to MV and congratulations on your first post.

It's really amazing that you don't have a GTS 310 yet, especially as Euro 5+ applies throughout Europe. There is a general importer in the Nordic countries (SPG Nordic, Åkerivägen 6, 187 75 Täby, Sverige, info@spgnordic.com). Have you ever contacted them?

Which country are you from exactly?

Unfortunately, i believe it's probably not that easy to buy at the net price for export. In contrast to car dealers, where this procedure is standard, most Vespa dealers are rather small local dealers where this procedure is probably not very common (if at all) from a tax point of view.

If you really want to go down the route of buying abroad and importing to your home country, you will probably have to approach a few dealers before you are successful. You may have the best luck if the dealer also sells cars as well as Vespa.

Good luck!

I'm from Sweden and considering importing a Vespa 310 from Germany. However, I haven't found any dealers willing to sell without charging German VAT. The typical arrangement seems to be that you pay the German VAT upfront, import the vehicle to Sweden, pay the Swedish VAT, and then the dealer refunds the German VAT afterward.

I'm not very comfortable with that setup—mainly because there's a risk the dealer might not follow through on the VAT refund.

That said, if you happen to come across a dealer who is willing to sell a Vespa VAT-free for export, please let me know.

The same problem exists the other way around. If the retailer invoices without VAT and the customer does not submit the necessary proof of export after the export, the retailer is still liable for the VAT to the tax office.

There is bound to be someone in Northern EU who has bought a gts310 and is not totally happy with their colour choice and who will sell you an almost brand new 310. Then you just need to travel on down and ride back up. You could put some ads on the forums and Facebook etc.

In Germany, a GTS 310 SuperSport costs €7499 gross including 19% VAT.(Net = 6.301,68€).

You won't find anyone selling a young used GTS 310 for less than 6300€, so it's not worth buying second-hand.

Note: In Europe, a vehicle is generally considered new if it has less than 6,000 kilometers or was first registered less than six months ago. -> This means that the buyer must pay VAT on the vehicle as a new vehicle in his country within the EU.

Now that I never knew, or heard of before! Unless the UK (in those dear departed days while in the EU) had different rules.

YES - A car sold in the EU is considered new if:
— you take possession of it less than six months from the date it first went on the road
OR
— the vehicle has been driven less than 6,000 km."

Same problem here in Norway - apparently the importer to the Nordics (located in Sweden) was forced by Piaggio to buy lots of 50cc scooters throughout the past years in order to buy the larger models (125 and upwards) - probably due to eager sales staff at Piaggio who want to boost their sales numbers... Now the importer in Sweden has a huge amount of 50cc in stock which they can't get rid of. As far as I have been told, the importer in Sweden won't take in the 310 models untill either Piaggio has found a solution or they manage to sell off the unwanted 50cc scoots. I have also been looking into importing a GTS 310 Super Sport from Germany, but VAT problems and also possible different rules on guarantees in the countries has held me off so far… Will probably have to wait until next season before I can get my hands on one here in Norway 😢

I have no idea whether they actually have these readily available, but at least a Finnish dealer has price tags for the 310 models.....tax is included, but a handling/delivery fee of 400€ will be added to all of these.

...and looking at the prices, no wonder I've yet to see a 310 in real life

VESPA GTS 310 9 990 €
VESPA GTS 310 SUPER 10 090 €
VESPA GTS 310 SUPER SPORT 10 390 €
VESPA GTV 310 10 390 €
VESPA GTV 310 SE 10 390 €
VESPA GTS 310 SUPERTECH 10 590 €

Just cars?

This certainly wasn't the case when I bought an ex demonstrator Motorbike in 2012 whilst the UK was benefitting from EU membership.

I can't help it if the EU only refers to the supposedly most common case on its website...

Of course you can't, but you can see why it could cause confusion.
