Hi, I've got a '98 ET4 which is currently in far too many pieces pending me getting my act together and sorting it out.
Seeing as I'm bringing it up to date a little bit (respray, possibly some new graphics) and that I'm one of those tinkerers who dabbles in everything (Arduino electronics, Cricut machine for graphics & stickers, 3D printing and currently gold plating stuff) I've been toying with the idea of a digital dash.
My current plans intend it just to be an overlay of the existing dash under the clear plastic. Speed will be from GPS to save messing with cable pulse generators and there'll be a combination of a roughly 3" screen and digital indicator lights. Nothing confirmed on layout yet.
Technical bit - controlled by ESP32, will have GPS module, an actual working clock(!), digital petrol indicator, screen based warnings and status for lights, oil etc. Probably a bluetooth MP3 from SD card with display. Might pop in a GSM module for anti theft system so it can text location etc. Maybe keyless depending on insurance.
I've done a search and don't see many posts where people have done anything similar which is a bit of a surprise. Has anyone else done it? What's the results / feedback? Any ideas on something I really should include?
It's a long term project, I can do the dash without any trouble but she's been in pieces for 2 years so far
Cheers!
