I have a lead on a Vespa from a buddy. Does anyone know what displacement this scoot is? As you can see in the pic, it has a kickstarter in addition to the electric start. Is it a 50cc or bigger? Do the 150 models have kickstart? Thanks!

What does the badge say? What are the first nine digits of the VIN? How far does the speedometer go?

The early models of the LX50 and LX150 both had kick start levers. Use of the kickstart lever should be avoided as there is a tendency for the transmission cover to crack.
That looks like the trans cover for the LX50, but to really know for sure, you should get the VIN #. |

There are two easy ways to distinguish between a LX50 and a LX150.
1) the other side of the bike, not shown in your photo, displays the name on the side panel 2) the instrument cluster. If it has a small circular light near the bottom which is for security, then it is a LX150. LX50's do not have this small light on the cluster. |

I don't think that's a stock LX color, though it looks nice.
You might want to make sure you understand the reason for repainting it. |

The seller is asking $1500 for this 2013 Vespa LX 50 with 143 miles. Supposedly, it's in running condition and was serviced about 18 months ago. I'm assuming tires are original. What do you think is a fair price to offer? I checked JD Power and it has its Avg. Retail Value at around $1260. Here are some more pics of it. Thanks!

1200-1300 is fair. Aside from rubber rot, it is in mint condition. It has front and rear racks, and a top case - that's 500 right there. Windscreen is also extra.
remember to price in a big block kit, because you will need it |

Thanks! https://www.motorcycle.com/2012/10/01/motorcycle-news/piaggio-announces-american-2013-vespa-lineup/ I personally would not, and do not, own a 4T 50cc machine. If a 50cc met some of my needs, which one does, I would own a 2T 50cc Genuine Buddy or Roughhouse. Which I do. I *like* messing around with my scooters. But to me messing around with a 4T BBK is a poor use of time, money, and reliability. Just get a bigger displacement scooter. |

Carb is all gummed up, After a good carb clean, it should be good to go. Bike is in beautiful condition.

I got the new #35 idle jet from scooterpartsco today. I replaced the badly clogged original idle jet with the new one and she starts up and purrs like a kitten. With only 148 original miles, this 2013 model LX50 is practically brand new. Can't wait to road test her once the rain lets up here tomorrow afternoon.

The keys in the seat give away the 50cc (for completion's sake).
And it's not the slowest. That's a Quattrovalvole and supposedly as quick as the two stroke LX50. The previous LX50 4 stroke was the slowest of the slow. |
