Hi Folks. My scoot has been running badly so I checked my timing. When I strobed it I found it's now static. It's not advancing or retarding when reved.
I have tried my spare CDI but it's still the same any ideas?

The variable timing on ignitions is provided by the CDI, so if you swapped it for a static CDI, that would explain it.

If it's supposed to be variable, then your initial diagnosis is correct: your CDI is bad, but you have to replace it with a variable CDI.

Did you replace it with another Flytech CDI? And was it variable?

It's an interesting failure mode in any case.
