Hello!!!

My keys have vanished. Time to get new ones made. I do indeed have my spare. What do I do?

Get your spare cloned. Either send it to AF1 Racing, or find a local auto locksmith that can clone it.

Buy the key blank. Get any locksmith to copy the teeth. Then use the correct timing of brown, new blue, brown key sequence (explained in the workshop manual).

Done.

Done.
1. buy compatible blank key (depends on modell / year)
2. program the key with the correct procedure
3. cut key by a locksmith

Programming can (should) take place before the key is cut.

I am a bit puzzled. How can you perform the key-programming if the key is not cut first?
It says: "Put the (first) blue key in the ignition, turn it to the on position (without starting the engine) and then turn it to the off position within 3 seconds."
Seems impossible to do that with an uncut key?

"Best practice to program new key:

1. brown key/master into the lock
2a./2b. switch ON / OFF (leave master inserted!)
3. fold out chip from master
4. hold blue key upside down next to lock, so that the chip of the blue key is closer to the ignition lock than the unfolded chip of the master.
5a./5b. switch again ON / OFF
(to learn a second blue key repeat steps 4 + 5a +5b with another blue blank)
6. retract the chip of the master key (hold the blue key(s) away from the lock)
7a/7b again ON/OFF
8. wait 30 seconds
9a./9b. test with chip of master key unfolded and chip of (first) blue key close to lock (switch ON/OFF) -> test again for second blue key (if programmed)

For understanding: the brown master key stays in the lock during the whole procedure, with this key you do all locking operations. It depends only on which key the chip for the respective step is closer to the lock (brown/blue), so you save the re-inserting of the keys and can achieve the required speed.

Method above can be done before the new blank gets cut at a locksmith, so you are sure it will work BEFORE you pay money for cutting!"

Identical procedure, more efficient/simpler execution.

I will not be able to use it, since the BV came without the master key.
I did not know about master and other keys when I bought it.

But it came with 3 "blue" keys, the first is the original black key, and the 2 others are just blue. And all 3 work.
I should be allright unless I loose all 3, which is very unlikely.

There was a hardware store near my that cut the key w/ chip on the spot. Easy peasy.
