Hello all,

I have a GTS 300 Supertech and I have noticed an issue (or not?) when I load fuel:

Everytime I load fuel, no matter if the bike is leaning on its side stand or in the center stand, I load until the fuel level in the fuel deposit is all the way up to the top, but nevertheless which position is the bike, when I turn it on, the fuel level shown in the display doesn´t reach the top (full) but 3/4.

Am I doing something wrong? how do you guys fill your tank all the way?

BTW, everytime I load fuel, the fuel dispenser which is put into the fuel tank doesn´t stops when the tank is full, hence it has to be turned off manually and of course some fuel is spilled everywhere, does the same happens to you?

Kind regards

Marco

Hola, Marco!

It's a common problem.

Unless things are changed, Vespa fuel gauges are notoriously inaccurate, so it's possible that the tank is full, but registers less. You can get a sense of that by running it to almost empty, and then seeing how much fuel you can put in.

Filling technique is important. Tip of the nozzle should be FULLY inserted, pointing to the rear. In most cases the pump will click off (if it does, DO NOT try to add any more), but not all pumps. Best then to figure out how much fuel you can fill in from "empty" e.g. one bar, and just stop once you've reached that volume.
And keep a rag handy for spills!

Hope that helps!

Good point.

Is it still under warranty?

Once full give the scooter a shake and the air bubbles will come to the top then top it up.

Thank you, will do next time! I suppose bubbles are indeed the problem so I will shake it a little bit next time.

No, unfortunately, anyway it´s not a real problem for me as long as it effectively measures when it is empty, but it is odd anyway.

Kind regards

Great if it works for you, but it's also a good way to add spill risk. Things get more delicate at the end. Of course if you absolutely need a maximally full tank, but at that point I'd just use a spare bottle. Haven't seen a tank in the wild, but not sure how much air can get trapped there...

Yeah right, I have to beat my compulsive disorder to have it at max level LOL.

BTW, another issue with the bike is that the temperature sensor is way off at about 5 or more degrees celsius.

I guess the 2020 model had many issued which were probably solved for later models.

Gas gauge, speedometer, temperature sensor,... How to say "close enough" in Italian?

LOL, that´s for sure!

Yesterday I refueled the bike, so leaned in on its side stand and fill it up (not after some fuel came out like a fountain because of the fuel pump not detecting it was full) and then I put the center stand.

Then the fuel level went down a little bit and then I shook it a little bit and I was able to put about 100 ml more of fuel, not more and I thought "Now it is absolutely full and there´s no way the fuel indicator will read 3/4".

Then turned on the bike and still the fuel indicator is 3/4. Sigh...
Gotta love this bike though

Kind regards
