Hi everyone,
I'm new to the world of Vespas and scooters in general, so I'm still learning the ropes. I hope someone here can help me figure out an issue I'm having after some recent work was done on my bike.

Apologies if I'm starting a new thread unnecessarily — I searched the forum but couldn't find a similar topic.

I ride a Vespa 50 LX 2T. I recently took it to a mechanic, who removed a factory restriction and adjusted the carburetor. He mentioned he was surprised the scooter was even running before, as it was getting such a lean mixture that it was "a miracle it hadn't seized." Thankfully, it didn't.

Since the adjustments, I've noticed a few issues:

Cold starts have become difficult. It used to fire up instantly — just a quick touch of the starter button and it was running. Now it won't start unless I give it some throttle, and even then it often dies if I don't keep revving it.

During the first 10 minutes of riding, the scooter jerks, doesn't hold mid-range RPMs, and immediately jumps to high RPMs when I twist the throttle.

After about 10 minutes of riding, everything stabilizes. It runs smoother, idles fine, and throttle response is much better.

The mechanic also mentioned that the engine compression might be low — around 8 bar instead of the expected 11 bar — and that this might be contributing to the cold start and warm-up behavior.

Has anyone experienced this after a derestriction or carb tune?

Any tips or guidance would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!
