pretty poor judgment. I swear there was less than 6 inches gap as the rear of my scoot went past. |

It's one thing to be in an accident where someone else is at fault, but all you can do is shake your head, grit your teeth and acquiesce. I remember my first shiny new scooter sitting in my driveway idling nicely ... on the side stand. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed it sliding forward, not realizing the idle was just high enough to engage the clutch. I spun around and grabbed it to keep it from toppling over. Unfortunately I grabbed the throttle. Hilarity and scratches ensued. We have to appreciate life's little lessons, and we never outgrow them.

Buying bike gear is pissing me off. I can't find anything in my size in local places to try on and buy. I eventually resorted to online and bought my size (true to size) which didn't fit. I sent the item back (at cost, boots fwiw) and ordered the next size up. They didn't fit either. Grr.
I eventually just went into Decathlon (big Euro sports shop) and bought some hiking boots. They will do. To be honest, they are probably almost as protective as some of the short m/c boots I was trying.

Leaving tomorrow morning (early) for a few days in CO to scope out rental properties for the first few months after we move there.
Just went down to the basement to get my laundry out of the dryer and bring it upstairs, stepped onto the crap laminate floor that's been a placeholder for years now (started as one and she decided to fully furnish it before i had a chance to replace it with something decent) and got that lovely squishy noise of water under the barrier. Wonderful. |

Swiss customs in Zurich!
According to tracking, they have had my package from Brixiamoto since 06:53 on Thursday. Are these guys on some kind of yodelling break or something? Just inspect the package and tick the boxes and inflict financial grief on me if you must but don't just sit there, do something! Okay, I succumbed to the urge to get, (and here is where the limited self-control lies,) just the rear crashbars and the F.A. Italia ones, not the slightly more expensive Vespa ones. I realise it is not necessarily Brixiamoto's fault, Swiss Customs are taking their sweet time but it is irksome that they charge €24 for shipping, when it seems to take a long time to get here. |

Someone opened a Chase checking account in my wife's name with her SSN, and the debit card arrived at our home last night. I spent an hour on the phone with them last night and got nowhere because the relevant departments were all closed.
So now I'm on the phone with them again, and actually had to conference in my wife so that she could confirm who she is and authorize me to speak on her behalf. I'm incredibly glad that we don't have an account with Chase. No one seemed to want to take ownership of the issue and help us. |

All too common in my life.
Note: for hook turns to the right you are required to wait on the left until the light changes red. effectively you are moving to the front of the queue of cars on the left that are waiting at their red (who are just off camera on the left). |

Removed the headset covers on my BV for brake fluid. Had to disassemble it partly at least 3 times for various reasons (e.g. forgetting to plug in the turn signals, checking out a non-functioning seat release, etc, etc). This project has had so many twists and turns, it's been quite the test of perseverance.
On the plus side, I remember being flummoxed the first time about removing plastic bits and reassembling....now I can probably give instructions without even looking at it.

JUST as I am getting ready to move the Aprilia on ... THIS happens :
I have a request off to an eBayer who seems to have a lot of parts, including the actual blinkers that go in those holes for the rest of the world. It may be as cost effective to delete the dangly blinkers and put lights in there.

The Minecraft movie was... terrible. And I say that as someone who "got" all the inside jokes and references, both subtle and un-subtle. I can even forgive the parts that weren't "authentic" or realistic.
It was just bad. I did have the urge to throw things at the screen, but since I was at home in my living room, I decided against it. And it definitely wasn't out of exuberance. |

It's rare that I call off a ride in the middle.
I knew it was hot. I knew it was breezy. But I rarely have a chance to go for a long ride. Today was my chance. Thermostat reads 99º. At 55mph, the 20mph headwinds and 35mph gusts made the combination of being buffeted whilst moving and baking whilst stopping unenjoyable. So I turned around and came home long before my intended destination. |
