Hi all,

I am restoring a PK 50 XL (V5X 3T).
At least that's what is says on the manufacturers plate. It's a German market version.
After looking more into it I have started to doubt - is it actually an PK 50 XL. The series was discontinued in 1990. Mine is 1991. Or can it be a XL2?
Can you tell the difference?

Also want to upgrade the engine to 125cc. And I want to be sure before buying.

Will these fit my scooter?

There is much more to be done on the scooter but my first goal is to get the engine restored, upgraded and running. Next winter I will tackle the other stuff.

It is 100% XL2. IIRC in German market is was sold as XL.
Engine have gear selector with 1 cable and maybe XL2 type clutch.

XL2 also have unique:
- plastic front mudguard
- horncover
- glovebox
- floor mats
- seat
- rear plastic part where light mounted
- rear mudflap
- full handlebar with top and bottom plastic covers, tubes, levers, grips, speedo
- mirrors
- choke lever on the handlebar

Also all XL2(and similar) have PK 125 XL fork and front brakes.

I hope this resto gets fully photo documented for us all to fill our scooter-porn obsession.

Good luck with the resto, XL2 are a cracking scooter. Small fast nimble with good stock suspension. What's not to like 😀

I think it is important to point.

There is possibly problem when you change primary gear. Due to its size the XL2 clutch basket can rub onto new aftermarket primary basket. Better to check if there enough clearance before closing crankcase halves.
In the case if clutch basket rubs you need to shim xmas tree(and kickstarter shaft) with 0.5 spacer and use the thinnest possible crankcase gasket. Grinding is also an option.
